From Abel Santamaría International Airport (SNU) in Santa Clara

The most common and efficient route for most international visitors is to fly to Abel Santamaría International Airport (SNU) in Santa Clara. From there, the journey to Playa Cayo Ensenachos is approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours by car or bus. Most tourist packages to the keys include the transfer from the airport to the resort. The trip takes place on a well-maintained road that, after passing through the picturesque town of Caibarién, becomes the famous pedraplén. This nearly 48-kilometer viaduct connecting mainland Cuba with the keys is an impressive feat of engineering and offers spectacular panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea, making the journey an experience in itself.

From Havana

If your point of entry is José Martí International Airport (HAV) in Havana, the options are a bit more extensive. You could opt for a domestic connecting flight to Santa Clara, which is the fastest and most comfortable way. Alternatively, a taxi or a long-distance bus can take you directly to the keys, but this journey is considerably longer, about 5 to 6 hours, and can be tiring. However, it is important to consider that gas stations are scarce once you enter the pedraplén, so we recommend filling the tank before leaving Caibarién.
