How to Get to Playa La Boca

Getting to Playa La Boca is part of the adventure and, fortunately, it is quite accessible, especially if we are in the nearby city of Trinidad. From the historic center of Trinidad, which is approximately 5 to 7 kilometers away, we have several options to suit different budgets and preferences.

From Trinidad

• Taxi: This is the most comfortable and fastest option. We can find collective taxis (almendrones) or private taxis in the Plaza Mayor or on the main streets of Trinidad. The journey usually takes about 10-15 minutes and offers picturesque views of the rural and coastal landscape.
• Bicycle: For lovers of exercise and nature, renting a bicycle in Trinidad is an excellent way to get to La Boca. The path is relatively flat and safe, and allows us to enjoy the fresh air and make spontaneous stops to admire the surroundings. Many private homes (casas particulares) and tourism agencies in Trinidad offer bicycle rentals by the day.
• On foot: Although it is a considerable walk (about an hour), it is possible to get there on foot if we have the time and desire to explore. It is an opportunity to observe local life and the area's flora and fauna up close.

From Sancti Spíritus (Provincial Capital)

If we are coming from the provincial capital, Sancti Spíritus, the distance is greater (approximately 70 kilometers). First, we will need to take a bus or a collective taxi to Trinidad, and once there, follow the directions above to get to Playa La Boca.

From Other Nearby Cities (Cienfuegos, Santa Clara)

From cities like Cienfuegos (approximately 80 kilometers) or Santa Clara (approximately 100 kilometers), the procedure is similar: first, take transportation (Viazul bus, collective taxi) to Trinidad, and then the final leg to La Boca. The road network in Cuba is generally good for these intercity trips, although travel times can vary. We always recommend planning transportation in advance, especially during high season.

The Sand and Water

When stepping onto the shore of Playa La Boca, the first thing that captivates us is the sensation under our feet. The sand here is predominantly fine, of a light tone that often mixes with small seashells and crushed coral, giving it an authentic and natural character. It is not the pristine white sand of Varadero postcards, but its soft texture and composition make it ideal for walking barefoot and relaxing under the Caribbean sun. It is the kind of sand that warms up pleasantly, but not excessively, allowing for long days on the shore.

But the true treasure of this beach is its waters. We would describe them as incredibly calm and crystal clear. The bay where La Boca is located protects it from strong currents and intense waves, creating a perfect natural pool for swimmers of all ages. The depth increases gradually, making it exceptionally safe for young children and for those who are not comfortable in deep water. We can wade in several meters without the water covering us completely, inviting a relaxing and prolonged dip.

The water temperature is another of its great assets. Typically warm year-round, it invites you to dive in and forget any worries. Its clarity allows us to see the sandy bottom and, sometimes, small fish swimming near the shore. This combination of fine sand and serene waters makes Playa La Boca a haven of peace, a place where the only imperative is to enjoy the sun, the sea, and the tranquility that surrounds us.
