How to Get to Playa Jibacoa

If we're coming from Havana, the drive by car or taxi takes about an hour and a half to two hours, covering some 60-70 kilometers. The road is picturesque, winding through small Cuban towns and fields, giving us an authentic glimpse of the rural landscape.

From Varadero, the trip is similar in duration and distance, about 70-80 kilometers to the west. Many tourists choose to rent a car for greater freedom of movement, although it's also possible to hire shared taxis or private transport services. For those staying in the area's resorts, it's common for them to offer transfers from Havana (José Martí) or Varadero (Juan Gualberto Gómez) airports. We recommend enjoying the journey, observing local life, and perhaps making an impromptu stop for a refreshing tropical drink.

Stepping onto the shore of Playa Jibacoa, the first thing we notice is the quality of its sand. It's fine sand, of a light golden hue that invites walking barefoot and building sandcastles.
