From Guantánamo City

If we depart from Guantánamo city, the journey can take between 1.5 and 2 hours, traveling along a road that winds through rural and coastal landscapes. We recommend renting a car (if available and feasible) or hiring a private taxi. Although it may be a bit more expensive, the comfort and flexibility are invaluable. Intermunicipal buses exist, but their schedules can be irregular and they don't always go directly to the beach, often leaving us in Imías, from where we would need another local transport like a bicitaxi or a private car for the final stretch. The road, although generally passable, may have sections in variable condition, so it's advisable to drive with caution and enjoy the trip, which offers impressive views of the coast and the Sierra Maestra in the distance.

From Baracoa

For those coming from Baracoa, a more established tourist destination at the eastern tip of Cuba, the trip to Playa Blanca is also an option. Baracoa is located northeast of Imías, so the route would take us along the coast, passing through picturesque towns and mountainous landscapes that meet the sea. This journey may be a bit longer than from Guantánamo city, perhaps 2.5 to 3 hours, but it's equally scenic. The same recommendations apply: private taxi or rental car are the most practical options. Regardless of the route we choose, the journey to this Guantánamo beach is an experience that immerses us in authentic Cuba, revealing the beauty of its less-traveled landscapes.
