How to Get to Playa Las Terrazas

Getting to Playa Las Terrazas is an exciting part of the adventure, as it takes us through the picturesque landscapes of the Cuban countryside. The Las Terrazas community is located approximately 75 kilometers west of Havana and about 25 kilometers from Artemisa, the provincial capital. The most common way to access it is by road, via the National Highway, taking the exit towards Soroa/Las Terrazas. From there, a well-signposted road will guide us directly to the ecotourism complex.

If we are coming from Havana, we can choose to rent a car, which gives us the freedom to explore at our own pace and stop at points of interest along the way. The journey usually takes about an hour and a half. Another popular alternative is to hire a private taxi or a 'shared taxi' (known as an 'almendrón'), especially if we are traveling in a group, which can be quite economical and allows us to enjoy the scenery without worrying about driving.

For those who prefer a more organized experience, there are day trips from Havana that include transportation and a guided tour of the Las Terrazas community and its attractions, including the bathing area. These tours are usually very comprehensive and ensure we don't miss anything important. Once inside the community, Playa Las Terrazas (the bathing area of the San Juan River) is well indicated and can be easily reached on foot from the community center or the Hotel Moka, or by a short car ride to the parking areas near the natural bathing spots.
