Getting to Playa de Hawaii is relatively straightforward, especially if we are staying in Pula or on the Verudela peninsula. The beach is located south of Pula, in an easily accessible area. If we are traveling by car, we must head towards the Verudela peninsula. There are parking options nearby, although in the high season (July and August), they can fill up quickly, so we recommend arriving early. A short walk will take us directly to the shore, with clear signage. For those who prefer public transport, there are local bus lines connecting Pula's center with Verudela. If we are staying in hotels on Verudela, such as the Park Plaza Histria, the beach is accessible on foot, enjoying a pleasant coastal walk. Overall accessibility is good, although the final stretch may have stairs.

When we talk about Playa de Hawaii, it's crucial to clarify one detail: we won't find fine golden sand here. Instead, the beach delights us with a surface of smooth white pebbles, polished by the ebb and flow of the waves. These pebbles give the beach a distinctive look and contribute to the incredible clarity of its waters. The absence of suspended sand allows the sea to show astonishing transparency, revealing the seabed with almost unreal clarity. The color of the water is a vibrant turquoise under the Istrian sun. The bay is well protected, which means its waters are usually very calm, with little to no waves. This makes it an exceptionally safe and pleasant place for swimming, even for the little ones. We always recommend wearing water shoes to protect your feet from the pebbles. Visibility is excellent, ideal for snorkeling.

To relax, you can rent umbrellas and sun loungers, a perfect way to secure a comfortable spot protected from the sun. The presence of chiringuitos and beach bars is a plus, offering drinks, ice cream, and snacks. Safety is a priority, so the beach has lifeguards during the high season, providing additional peace of mind. Furthermore, there are toilets/WCs available nearby. Best Time to Visit

Choosing the best time to visit Playa de Hawaii is key to fully enjoying it. We advise considering the climate and the influx of people. The high season in Croatia, and therefore at Playa de Hawaii, spans July and August. The weather is warm and sunny, with ideal water temperatures (24-26°C). It's the perfect time if we're looking for a vibrant atmosphere and services running at full capacity, but we must expect many people. For a more relaxed experience, with pleasant temperatures but fewer crowds, we recommend June and September. In June, the climate is warm and stable, the sea pleasant (20-24°C), and there are fewer tourists. In September, after the bustle, the weather is still magnificent (around 25°C) and the sea warm (22-24°C). The crowds decrease drastically, allowing us to enjoy the beach with greater serenity. Accommodation prices are usually more economical.

Activities and Sports

Playa de Hawaii, with its calm and crystal-clear waters, is a perfect setting for various activities, although its main attraction lies in swimming and relaxation. We always encourage taking advantage of its natural conditions. The quintessential activity is swimming; the protected waters of the bay are ideal for a relaxing dip. The water clarity invites snorkeling, allowing us to discover fascinating marine life among the rocks and pebbles on the bottom. Although it's not a center for extreme sports, in the vicinity of Verudela and Pula, we can find kayak and paddleboard (SUP) rentals, fantastic ways to explore the coast. For the more experienced, there are diving centers in Pula. Beyond the water, the beach is perfect for sunbathing and relaxing. The coastal trails surrounding it are ideal for walks, offering spectacular views. Its scenic beauty makes it an ideal place for photography.
