How to Get to Cala Torta

To get to Cala Torta, you must consider that its 'wild' beauty comes with access that, while not complicated, requires a bit of planning and a pinch of adventure. We always recommend going with your own vehicle, as public transport does not reach the beach directly. From Artà, the drive takes about 10-15 minutes.

The Dirt Road

Once we leave Artà heading towards the coves of the northeast, we take the Ma-15 road until the signposted turnoff for Cala Torta, Cala Mitjana, and Cala Estreta. From here, the road becomes a dirt track. This section, although passable for most vehicles, can be somewhat uneven, with potholes and stones. We advise driving slowly to avoid surprises and to enjoy the rural landscape that accompanies us.

Parking and Final Walk

At the end of the dirt track, we will find an area designated as a parking lot, which is usually paid during the high season. It's a fairly large parking area, but in the middle of August it can fill up. Once the car is parked, a short walk of a few minutes awaits us to reach the sand. It's a pleasant stroll, with views that already hint at the wonder to come. For us, this small effort contributes to the feeling of 'discovering' a special place, far from the crowds.

The Sand and Water

The first impression upon stepping onto the sand of Cala Torta is that of an oasis of purity. The sand is fine and of a soft golden color, very pleasant to the touch and perfect for spreading out our towel and relaxing under the sun. It's a relatively wide beach, which allows you to find space even on days with more visitors, although it never gets as crowded as other more urban beaches.

But if there's something that takes our breath away at Cala Torta, it's its waters. Of an intense turquoise blue that fades to emerald tones near the shore, they are extraordinarily transparent and clean. The water quality is exceptional, making it ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The entry into the sea is gentle and gradual, without major drops, making it a safe and pleasant option for swimming calmly and enjoying the freshness of the Mediterranean. On days with tramontana or levante winds, the waves can be a bit stronger, adding a touch of dynamism to the experience.

As we've already mentioned, Cala Torta is a beach that retains its wild and natural spirit. This means we shouldn't expect a large number of services or tourist infrastructure, something that for us is precisely part of its charm. However, it has the essentials to make our beach day comfortable and enjoyable.

The Chiringuito

During the summer season, it's common to find a chiringuito (beach bar) right on the beach. This small establishment usually offers cold drinks, ice cream, and some simple dishes like sandwiches or salads. It's a reference point to refresh yourself and have a snack without having to leave the cove. The offering is basic but sufficient to spend the day. We always appreciate having this option at hand, as it allows us to extend our stay without worrying about bringing all the food and drink from home.

Other Services

In addition to the chiringuito, and also seasonally, we can find lifeguard services, which adds an extra layer of safety, especially if we're with children. It's also possible that the chiringuito offers umbrella and sunbed rentals, which is very convenient if we don't want to carry our own equipment. However, it's important to remember that there are no permanent showers or public toilets, so we recommend being prepared and respecting the natural environment as much as possible. The absence of these services is a small price to pay for enjoying such a pristine spot.

Best Time to Visit

Choosing the best time to visit Cala Torta is key to fully enjoying its charm. We, as experts, always recommend the months of spring (April, May, early June) and early autumn (September, October). During these times, the climate in Mallorca is exceptionally pleasant, with mild temperatures that invite swimming and relaxation.
