If there's a corner on the Costa Blanca that has stolen our hearts with its serenity and natural beauty, it's undoubtedly Cala del Lanuza beach. Located in the charming municipality of El Campello, in the province of Alicante, this cove represents the essence of what we seek when we long for a peaceful escape by the sea. It's a place where time seems to stand still, where the murmur of the waves becomes the only soundtrack, and where the turquoise blue of the Mediterranean invites us to immerse ourselves in a state of absolute calm.

Cala del Lanuza is not one of those overcrowded beaches we often find in more touristy areas. On the contrary, it's a semi-urban gem, accessible enough to enjoy its services, yet sufficiently sheltered to maintain an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Its modest but welcoming size makes it the perfect destination for families seeking a safe place for the little ones, as well as for couples or solo travelers wanting to disconnect and recharge. We consider it a true treasure, a space where nature and comfort join hands to offer us an unforgettable experience.

How to Get to Cala del Lanuza

Getting to Cala del Lanuza beach is relatively straightforward, which adds to its appeal. It's located north of the urban center of El Campello, in a quiet residential area. If we're coming from Alicante city, the drive takes about 20-25 minutes via the N-332 or AP-7, taking the exit towards El Campello. Once in the municipality, signage towards the northern coves will guide us without difficulty.

By Car

For us, the car is the most comfortable option. There are parking areas on the streets adjacent to the cove, although they can get quite busy during high season. We recommend arriving early, especially during July and August, to secure a good spot. The cove is easily accessible on foot from these parking areas, with small descents leading directly to the sand.

By Public Transport

El Campello has an excellent Tram connection (lines L1 and L3) linking Alicante with Dénia. We can get off at the 'Lanuza' or 'Poble Espanyol' stop, and from there, the cove is about a 10-15 minute walk away. It's an ecological and highly recommended option if we prefer to forget about the car.

The Sand and Water

The first thing that catches our attention when stepping onto Cala del Lanuza is the particularity of its ground. Here we won't find the typical fine golden sand of other Alicante beaches, but rather a combination of medium-grain sand and small stones or pebbles, which we define as `sand_type`: 'mixed' and `ground_type`: 'mixed'. This characteristic gives it a rustic and natural charm, and keeps the water exceptionally clear, even on the busiest days.

The cove's waters are one of its greatest attractions. They are calm, of a mesmerizing greenish-blue color, and with a very pleasant temperature for much of the year. The absence of strong currents and the shallow depth near the shore make it perfect for a relaxing swim. Furthermore, its rocky bottom in some areas is a paradise for snorkeling enthusiasts, where we can observe varied marine life just a few meters from the surface. We always recommend wearing water shoes for more comfort when entering and exiting the water, although they are not essential.

Services and Facilities

Despite being a moderately sized cove, Cala del Lanuza is well-equipped with essential services that make our stay more comfortable and enjoyable. We have verified that, although it doesn't have a Blue Flag, its facilities and the care of the environment are noteworthy.

Among the services we can find, we highlight:

• Showers: Ideal for washing off salt and sand after a refreshing swim.
• Parking: As mentioned, there is availability in the surrounding areas, though limited in high season.
• Chiringuitos: We have some beach bars right on the beach or very close by, where we can enjoy a cold drink, an ice cream, or even a light meal with sea views. They are perfect places to extend the day and enjoy the sunsets.
• Lifeguard Service: During the bathing season (generally from June to September), the cove has lifeguard service, which gives us great peace of mind, especially if we're with children.
• Bathrooms/WC: They are usually available, often associated with the chiringuitos or as nearby municipal facilities.

Best Time to Visit

We consider Cala del Lanuza beach a wonderful destination at any time of the year, but there are moments that stand out above others to fully enjoy it.

• Spring (April-May): For us, it's one of the best times. Temperatures are mild, days are sunny, and the number of visitors is lower. The water is already warming up and is perfect for the first swims of the year. The surrounding vegetation is at its peak, and the air is pure and fresh.
• Summer (June-September): Undoubtedly, the high season. The cove comes alive with more services and a livelier atmosphere. Temperatures are high and the water is ideal for swimming. However, this is also when it receives the most visitors, so we recommend going early in the morning or late in the afternoon to find a quiet spot.
