How to Get to Cala de los Amarillos

Getting to Cala de los Amarillos is part of the adventure and charm of this place. Being within a Natural Park, access is somewhat more limited, which helps preserve its pristine state. Generally, the most common route is by car to a nearby point and then on foot. From the village of Rodalquilar, for example, we can take the road leading towards the coast, in the direction of Las Negras or La Isleta del Moro, and watch for turnoffs and signage, which can sometimes be subtle. It's important to remember that we are in a protected area, so we must always respect the signs and not stray from marked paths.

Usually, we'll find an area to park the vehicle, which might be a small informal parking area or simply a wide roadside verge. From there, a short walk awaits us, about ten or fifteen minutes, along trails that wind through native vegetation and the characteristic volcanic rock formations of Cabo de Gata. We recommend wearing comfortable and suitable footwear for walking on uneven terrain. This little walk allows us to anticipate the beauty that awaits and prepares us for total immersion in nature. Don't expect major infrastructure; the beauty of this access lies precisely in its simplicity and respect for the natural environment. The reward, upon spotting the cove from above, is simply spectacular.

The combination of fine sand and crystal-clear waters creates an idyllic setting that invites us to immerse ourselves again and again in this natural paradise.

Services and Facilities

It's essential to keep in mind that Cala de los Amarillos is a wild and pristine beach, located in the heart of a Natural Park. This means that, unlike other more urbanized beaches, here we will not find any services or facilities of any kind. There are no 'chiringuitos' (beach bars), no showers, no public toilets, nor umbrella or sunbed rentals. It also does not have lifeguard services, so caution and personal responsibility are paramount when enjoying its waters.

This absence of infrastructure is, precisely, part of its charm and what helps maintain its natural beauty intact. However, it requires proper preparation on our part. If we plan to spend the day at the cove, we must bring everything we need with us: plenty of water to stay hydrated, some food or a picnic, sun protection (sunscreen, hat, sunglasses), an umbrella if we seek shade, and, of course, a bag to collect our waste and take it back with us. It is vital that we leave the cove exactly as we found it, leaving no trace of our visit, so that future generations can continue to enjoy this paradise. The experience of Cala de los Amarillos is, in many ways, a return to the essentials, an opportunity to enjoy nature without intermediaries or artificial comforts.

For us, Cala de los Amarillos is fully enjoyed during certain times of the year, when the influx of visitors is lower and the climate is more pleasant. Undoubtedly, spring (April, May, and early June) and autumn (September and October) are the ideal times to visit.
