How to Get to Playa de Shëngjin

Getting to Playa de Shëngjin is relatively straightforward, making it even more attractive. The most common route for most international travelers is to fly into Tirana International Airport 'Nënë Tereza' (TIA), located approximately 70-80 kilometers to the south. From the airport, we have several options:

By Car

• Car rental: This is undoubtedly the option that offers the most freedom. The journey from Tirana to Shëngjin takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on traffic. The road is good and the signage is usually clear. It allows us to explore the surroundings with ease.
• Taxi: We can take a taxi directly from the airport, although it's a more expensive option. It's advisable to agree on the price before starting the trip.

By Public Transport

• Bus: From Tirana, we can take a bus or minibus (furgon) to Lezhë. Once in Lezhë, there are frequent connections to Shëngjin, which is only about 8 kilometers away. This is the most economical option, although it requires more time and patience. The buses are usually comfortable and give us a good sense of local life.

The Sand and Water

One of the most praised aspects of Playa de Shëngjin is undoubtedly its sand and the quality of its waters. The beach features fine, golden sand that invites barefoot walks and sandcastle building. It's a pleasure for the senses, soft to the touch and perfect for long days of sun and relaxation. The texture of the sand is uniform, making it very comfortable for lying down and enjoying the good weather.

As for the water, we find a Mediterranean of blue and green hues, generally calm and very clean. The shoreline has a gentle slope, meaning we can walk quite far into the sea before the water covers us completely. This makes it an exceptionally safe beach for children and for those who don't feel very comfortable in deep water. The water temperature during the summer months is very pleasant, ideal for cooling off from the sun's heat. The water's transparency allows us to see the sandy bottom, adding an extra touch of tranquility and beauty to our swim. The Lezhë beaches in general are known for their cleanliness, and Shëngjin is no exception.

Services and Facilities

Playa de Shëngjin is characterized as a well-equipped seaside resort, designed for the comfort of its visitors. We find a wide range of services and facilities that make our stay as pleasant as possible:

• Sunbeds and Umbrellas: All along the beach, we have the option to rent umbrellas and comfortable sunbeds for a reasonable price. It's ideal for those days when we just want to relax and enjoy the sun without worrying about bringing our own gear.
• Chiringuitos and Restaurants: The gastronomic offer is vast. From small beachfront 'chiringuitos' offering refreshing drinks and snacks, to more formal restaurants where we can taste delicious local and international cuisine. Many of them have terraces with spectacular sea views.
• Showers and Toilets/WCs: In various areas of the beach and in nearby establishments, we will find showers to rinse off the salt and clean toilets, an essential service we always appreciate.
• Lifeguards: During the high season, the beach has lifeguard stations that watch over the safety of swimmers, giving us extra peace of mind, especially if we are traveling with children.
• Parking: For those arriving by car, there are ample parking areas, both paid and free nearby, although in high season it can be a bit more difficult to find a spot close to the shore.
• Equipment Rental: We find points where we can rent equipment for light water activities, such as pedal boats, kayaks, or paddleboards.
• Children's Area: Some hotels and complexes along the beach offer children's play areas, and the beach itself, with its shallow waters, is a great natural playground.
