How to get to Playa de Currila

Getting to Playa de Currila is relatively straightforward, making it an accessible destination for most visitors. If we are coming from the center of Durrës, the beach is located a few kilometers to the north, following the coastline. We can choose from several transportation options, each with its own advantages.

From Durrës city

• By car: This is, without a doubt, the most comfortable and flexible option. The journey from the center of Durrës takes just 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic. The road is well signposted and takes us directly to the beach area, where we will find parking options.
• By taxi: Taxis are plentiful in Durrës and offer a quick and direct way to get there. The price is reasonable and they will drop us off right at the entrance to the beach.
• By public transport: Although there is no direct bus line that drops us right on the sand of Currila, we can take a city bus in Durrës that gets us close to the northern area of the city and then walk a short distance or take a local taxi. This option is more economical but requires a bit more planning.

From Tirana

If our starting point is the capital, Tirana, the trip to Playa de Currila is equally manageable. We can take the SH2 highway towards Durrës, a journey that generally takes about 30-40 minutes. Once in Durrës, we simply follow the signs to the northern coast and the beach. Renting a car is highly recommended if we plan to explore the region, offering us total freedom to move at our own pace and discover other wonderful beaches of Albania.

The sand and the water

Playa de Currila captivates us immediately with its natural characteristics. The sand here is of a fine type, soft to the touch and of a light golden color that invites us to walk barefoot. It's perfect for children who enjoy building sandcastles or simply for us, who want to relax in the sun. The width of the beach, although not as vast as others in the region, is enough for us to feel comfortable and find our own space, even in high season.

The waters of the Adriatic in Currila are a true delight. We encounter an exceptionally crystal-clear sea with a turquoise blue that reminds us of paradise postcards. The water quality is excellent, making it ideal for swimming and enjoying a refreshing dip.
